Our People

As the boundaries between industries and sectors become more fluid, as the pace of change accelerates, and as competition intensifies, strategic focus has never been more critical. Yet, needed information is more scattered, human resources are more elusive, and financial resources more mobile than ever.

Making sense of it all is a tall order, but failing to do so is not an option for those who intend to survive and thrive. For over two decades, CFAR has worked with leaders in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, helping them to formulate and implement winning strategies.

Because building strategy is a fundamentally human endeavor, we place great importance on developing leadership teams who will become the "keepers" of strategic intent when the engagement is complete. The CFAR team then collaborates with the client team to understand the sources of its competitive advantage, to envision a variety of possible futures, and to test these against such questions as: Can it "fly" here? What is the market risk and can we tolerate it? What are the resource needs? Is it true to our mission? What might the future look like and how does our strategy work under different scenarios for the future?

CFAR knows that a good strategy alone doesn't make for business success. Our methods for documenting, communicating and then reviewing performance are based on storytelling, and our staff of MBAs, economists and anthropologists apply their collective expertise to enable leaders to talk about their strategy rather than simply list its features in bullet points. Stories draw people in, and build momentum inside the organization to make strategy happen.
