American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC)—January 19 . Tom Gilmore will be delivering three sessions at the Executive Development Seminar for Deans. The topics of the sessions will be "Critical Issues Facing Academic Medical Centers," "Campaigns as a Vehicle for Organizational Change," and "Creating Effective Organizational Roles and Processes."

Essentials of Management Program, Wharton School —January 23 through 27. Mario Moussa will be co-directing the program which is geared towards managers stepping into an executive role.

HEC School of Management—Larry Hirschhorn will be giving a session on "The Psychodynamics of Consulting" as part of the Consulting and Coaching for Change program at HEC Executive Education.

Tom Gilmore and Debbie Bing have contributed a chapter entitled "Tools for Effective Transitions in Large Group Processes" to The Handbook of Large Group Methods: Creating Systemic Change in Organizations and Communities, Bunker and Alban, Jossey-Bass, 2006.

CFAR Expands Leadership Team

Debbie Bing, Linda May, and Jennifer Tomasik were named principals at CFAR   The press release announcing the promotions is available in pdf format

William Alanson White Institute—February 3 and 4. Tom Gilmore and Debbie Bing will be doing a presentation and workshop on "Large Group Methods for Engaging Stakeholders in Diagnosis" at the Organization Program's mid-year event.

Wharton/ASIS Program for Security Executives—February 5. Mario Moussa will serve as Academic Director for the program and wil deliver sessions on strategy and managing across organizational boundaries.

University of Pennsylvania—February 9. Cassie Solomon Gillis will be teaching a Negotiations workshop for the School of Design's Negotiation and Conflict Resolution course.

March 2006

Westchester Community College —March 16. Debbie Bing and Barry Dornfeld will be giving the endnote address at a conference on Westchester's Maturing Workforce entitled, "Building a Sustainable Future: Transferring Culture and Knowledge in your Organization."

April 2006

CFAR Hires New Associate—April 3. Ramona Lyons joins CFAR as an Associate. Ramona comes to CFAR after working for more than ten years in health care and financial services research, advertising and brand strategy developement.

Cigna—April 5. Mario Moussa will be conducting a workshop on Negotiations with Cigna contract negotiators.

SCT (Systems Centered Theory) Conference—Jessica Geiben Lynn and Beulah Trey will be presenting a session entitled "Lessons From The Field: Organizational Applications of SCT".

May 2006

Journal of Quality and Patient Safety—May 2006. Larry Hirsschhorn was one of the authors on an article entitled "Evidence-Based Practice to Reduce Central Line Infections."  The authors were recipients of the 2005 Ernest Amory Codman Award in the Multiple Organization Category. The Codman Awards recognize excellence in the use of outcomes measurement to achieve improvements in the quality and safety of health care.

Family Firm Institute—Nancy Drozdow is profiled for FFI's "Interview with a Founder" series as part of their 20th Anniversary celebration.

Managing Overload in Healthcare—June 14. Cassie Solomon-Gillis will be conducting a session on Managing Overload in Healthcare for the Patient Safety Executives of a large North Eastern health system.

ISPSO Annual Meeting—June 20. Debbie Bing and Tom Gilmore will be doing a workshop entitled "Using Endings Developmentally: Rituals, Reports, and Interventions.

Drug Information Association Annual Meeting—Mario Moussa will be giving a presentation entitled "Tools to Bridge the Partnering Gap"

CFAR is partnering with The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Dubai World, a diverse group of companies, for their Dubai Leaders Program .

Led by Barry Dornfeld and Chatham Sullivan, CFAR will be directing the Action Learning component of this premier executive development program, focused on enhancing the leadership skills of the participants.

 

Fielding Graduate University—July 12. Larry Hirschhorn will give a presentation on “Competition and Competence: A Case Study of a Consultation to a Professional Services Firm”

Executive Leadership for Academic Medicine Program (ELAM)—September 14. Tom Gilmore will be teaching CFAR's "Campaign Approach to Change."

The Fletcher School at Tufts University—September 15. Jessica Geiben Lynn will be part of a panel discussion on “Hiring Theory in the Private Sector.”

ASIS International Annual Seminar—September 25. Mario Moussa will be giving a session entitled "Strategic Thinking and Increasing Competitive Advantage." The focus of the session is on defining a strategic position in the market, making investments that build strategic strength, and aligning activities throughout an organization that support competitiveness.

Philadelphia Human Resources Group (PHRPG)—September 29. Cassie Solomon-Gillis is collaborating on a session with Ana Reyes entitled "21st Century Talent Management and Virtual Global Teams." The program will be centered around organizational cases where virtual teaming was used to strengthen the integration of talent management across the company, with cases drawn from financial services, pharmaceutical and professional services. 

October 2006

Medical University of South Carolina—October 4 and 5. Beulah Trey will be teaching the class "Leadership Two: Negotiation and Mediation."  The course prepares executives to be more effective as health care leaders, by providing theory and practical skills in negotiation and mediation.

American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC)October 6 and 7. Tom Gilmore conduct three sessions as part of the Executive Development Seminar for Associate Deans and Department Chairs. The Topics of the sessions will be

"Critical Issues Facing Academic Medical Centers"
"Leading and Planning for Change"
"Organizational Diagnosis"

Tom will also facilitate a "Conversation About Leadership" session

University of the Sciences in Philadelphia—October 11. Bart Parrott and Lynn Oppenheim will deliver a presentation enttled "Towards Effective Collaboration: The Future of Health Care" as part of the Health Policy Speakers Series, "Current Research in Health Policy"

Healthcare Business Women's Association—October 16. Lynn Oppenheim will moderate a panel discussion on the topic Lessons from the Top : The Path from Scientist to Senior Executive. Senior industry leaders from GlaxoSmithKline, Clinlogix, and AstraZeneca discuss how they progressed in their careers from scientist to executive leadership.

Family Firm Institute Annual Meeting —October 22. Nancy Drozdow and Chatham Sullivan will deliver a presentation entitled "Telling the Strategy Story of the Next Generation: Leadership Transition Through the Lens of Strategy" as part of the Research and Education Symposium.

Aresty Institute of Executive Education, Wharton School—October 31. Chatham Sullivan will be teaching a session on "Organizational and Team Dynamics in Hospital Systems" in the Nursing Leaders program

November 2006

Healthcare Business Women's Association—November 3. Lynn Oppenheim will facilitate a panel discussion on the topic "Know Yourselves to Influence Others: Mastering the Internal Sell" at HBA's Annual Leadership Conference.
