CFAR hires new Associate—Matthew Hill joins CFAR as an Associate in our Philadelphia office. Matthew comes to CFAR after working as a consultant in the computer technology, financial, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC)—January 18 . Tom Gilmore will be delivering three sessions at the Executive Development Seminar for Deans. The topics of the sessions will be "Critical Issues Facing Academic Medical Centers," "Campaigns as a Vehicle for Organizational Change," and "Creating Effective Organizational Roles and Processes."

William Alanson White Institute—January 27. Larry Hirschhorn and Chatham Sullivan will present a session entitled "The Psychology of Strategy". The session examines the intersection between the economics and strategy of business on the one hand, and the social and psychological processes within organization on the other.

ISPSO Symposium Annual Meeting — June 16-22. Larry Hirschhorn and Debbie Bing will be Co-Chairs of the ISPSO Annual Symposium. The theme for the Symposium is "Motivation and Meaning at Work" and will explore meaning, motivation and the links between them from a psychoanalytic point of view. Debbie Bing's paper "Crowding Out the Space: The Weakness of a Strong Leader" has won the first Harold Bridger Award at this year's International Society for Psychoanalytic Study of Organizations (ISPSO) annual conference. The Bridger Award is given for the best paper presented at the previous Symposium by a member who joined ISPSO within the previous five years.
Aresty Institute of Executive Education, Wharton School — June 23 through 26. Mario Moussa will be co-directing a program entitled "Strategic Persuasion: The Art and Science of Selling Ideas" . Society of Consulting Psychology—Larry Hirschhorn's article, "The Fall of Howell Raines and The New York Times: A Study in the Moralization of Organizational Life," has been selected as the winner of the Elliott Jaques Award as the most outstanding journal article in the Consulting Psychology Journal. This award is selected annually by the Editorial Board of the journal.
Family Firm Institute—Debbie Bing has been named to a three year term as a member of the board of directors for FFI's New England Chapter. She will serve as Secretary/Clerk for the coming year.
