Larry Hirschhorn, Principal, has written a new blog post on the the early failure of The failure of, the federal government’s website for matching consumers with available health care plans has undermined the credibility and standing of the Obama administration and the Affordable Health Care Act itself. Yet most journalists, even those who are pro-Obama, agree that this failure was to a large degree self-inflicted. One question is how and why did the White House undermine itself. Larry suggests that administration leaders came to believe that they were engaged in a crusade, and that the psychology of a crusade pre-empts careful thinking about cause and effect, while privileging loyalty over critical thinking.
