Chris McEntee

We are thrilled to welcome Chris McEntee to CFAR as a Senior Advisor for our work with healthcare and research organizations and professional associations and societies. In her most recent role as CEO of the American Geophysical Union (AGU)—a global professional scientific society serving 130,000 scientists—Chris positioned AGU as a leading industry voice and drove key initiatives that increased the relevance and value of science in our society.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Chris has focused on growing large organizations through reimagining their governance, membership, programs, public policy, scientific networks, and outreach. She also has more than 20 years of association management experience, having held numerous leadership roles, including Executive Vice President of the American Hospital Association, Legislative Representative for the American Association of Retired Persons, Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Cardiology and its affiliated foundation, and Executive Vice President and CEO of the American Institute of Architects.

Chris holds an MHA from George Washington University and a BSN from Georgetown University. A graduate of the Advanced Executive Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, she has served on numerous boards, including as a public member on the American Board of Ophthalmology and as board vice chair of the Medstar Health Research Institute.

Chris is a Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and a Nurse Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. She has received numerous awards for her outstanding leadership, including the CEO Update Professional CEO of the Year, Crain’s Chicago Business Under 40 Movers and Shakers, and the ASAE’s Women Who Advance America award. Chris is also frequently called upon as a presenter and media spokesperson on issues of leadership, science, and health.
